Last season August let Tig live when Jax handed him over. August and Tig must've made some kind of deal that Tig could live as long as he becomes their rat.

No. Jax wanted Marks to ice Tig after he almost got the club shot up when they first met Robocop.

Marks told Jax that he just wanted to see if he could trust him by having him turn Tig over. Once he saw Jax held up to his end of the deal he let him go. I think they played it off by having his people give Tig the first payment Marks owed to Jax for the guns or something like that.

I definitely think Abel killed the birds and wrote on the wall.
Don't forget he overheard Gemma "talking to Tara" last week about how it everything that happened was an "accident".
They also zoomed in on Abel coloring with crayons twice in this episode for no reason and the message was written in crayon.
Also, when Gemma asked him if he knows what "an accident means", Abel stoned the bitch with a "Do YOU????".
Chopping up the birds and a a crayon written message isn't August Marks's style.
That's all the Bad Seed's doing.
