After driving across New Mexico, I have to say it must be one of if not the most desolate places in the western hemisphere. Just mile after mile of barren nothingness.

Did you mention to him it would probably be more bearable if he rented an apartment and bought his food at the store rather than living in a tent and hunting with his bare hands? New Mexico is a beutiful place, especially Albequerque/Santa Fe area. The city lights of Albequerque at night headed east into the city are fricking breathetaking.
I wouldn't want to live there though. Too remote.
