I am a big fan of John Chavis. I think he is a defensive mastermind when it comes to schemes to stop offensive minded teams. It just seems like the last couple of years our linebackers have been declining. They seem to be lacking that aggressiveness that minter, Riley, Sheppard had. They don't consistently attack. I think he has to do better in recruiting hard nose attack linebackers. Kwon seems like the only one that steps up occasionally. I hope Garrett will be that ball hawking LB we've been missing.

I just don't think Welter is very good, but he plays anyway.

You have to give some of that burden to the DL. The DL is not controlling the LOS and the LBs are getting a lot more blockers coming their way and hence less room to operate.

The defensive line + DJ Welter/Lamar Louis, are all a step down from previous years. Bash away but sometimes truth hurts.

2013 was the worst DLine play since probably 2008, maybe even 2001. That has severely affected the LB's.

Game 1 showed the same problem.

It's hard when you only have 2 on the field.

I don't profess to know more than Chavis or whether the blame is equally on the DL. But it does seem that our LBs are not good. They don't seem strong, don't seem to get off blocks, and dont seem productive. I like the idea of fast LBs but I don't know if ours are good.

Give me kwon/Beckwith/garret. Unleash them and see what they do. If they want to redshirt CG, then play jones.

We need to get Feist and Debo into the rotation, and hurry up and get Garrett up to speed.

Kwon was a beast against Wisconsin... He was all over the field. The other 2 LBs seemed to just be roll players and not play makers. I'm not saying they played bad, but they just didn't make plays like Kwon did.

Been the case every year. We need the Kelvin Sheppard, Kevin Minter to emerge. Welter isn't a bad player, but he's just not on either of those two level. Kwon, with another above average LB and we'd be very tough.

We need to give Welter 2 more games before we call him terrible. One thing is for sure, I havent seen anyone clearly step up and take his job.
Doesnt seem to be the case for Porter.
