Archie is a folk hero. His stats aren't gaudy, but he went out there every week and gave it everything he had. That he sired two NFL QBs (one arguably the greatest of all time, the other a two time Super Bowl MVP) definitely boosts his legend.
With a lot of players, it's not all about stats. Archie Manning is one of those players.
