Look I am not arguing that it is wise for loss prevention employees to try to physically restrain someone to take them into custody for shoplifting. I was however pointing out that is legal for them to do so.

See my above statement. But again I think you are giving the shithead thief a pass. He is the one that should shoulder the blame for the incident. Had a bystander pulled out a gun a shot him when he was stabbing those guys it would have been a justified shoot.

I'm not giving the thief a pass. I'm blaming some second rate mall cops for needlessly escalating violence.
