What did coaches see to make Jennings and Harris 1 and 2?

I'll preface this with my not being a negatiger and my unwillingness to take a side if the JJ vs JL type debate pops up again. Jennings is our qb. I also don't listen to coaches' interviews because they say nothing.
But, putting the usually valueless coach-speak aside, what did the coaches see in practices that put them both ahead of Rettig who has transferred? Was Rettig that bad? Are the coaches in love with the "potential" of a dual threat qb despite the time he'll take to mature or were these guys making the throws in practice against one of the best secondaries in college ball?
Does anyone have info beyond what is put out to the general public?

Throws in practice plus the option to run if need be.

Jennings was making really good throws and only forced like one or two. He just had no option but to push the ball downfield because most of the time everyone was covered. It ended up working out for us. He really impressed me, just needs to avoid sacks better.

I'm sold on Jennings. At least for now. I like his mobility

I liked his shorter throws in the fourth quarter. On the money and in the correct spot. Is that what we can expect or is that the aberration?
Do we know he made the throws in practice or is that just the coaches saying what coaches always say?

Anyone who has info is just lying or relatining what their cousin's best friend's sister's uncle heard at the next table at Wendy's. I was at game near field level and Jennings was waiting too long to throw a number of times IMO. But he looked sharp. Just a little jittery at times. Harris had the look of a true fresh in his first game on National TV. That said, the play calling was designed to limit risk with young QBs instead of maximizing opportunity. First half was mostly 3 wides. We made real strides in second half with 2 TE sets. And Dillon Gordon is a beast.

This is when we started moving the ball. Shorter throw instead of trying to hit the home run.

I'm a bit concerned that the only 2 scholarship qbs on the team are scramblers with an increased risk of injury.

we blew some screen pass opportunities, get that cleaned up and we'll have a servicable passing attack. we've got to make sure teams cant put 8 in the box on us.

Practices. Look at spring ball clips, his footwork was terrible also

Once he figured out that he didn't have to throw a balloon every pass he looked just fine. Good decision making (couple of reads and a sack (tfl?) excepted), good leadership, and he knew the playbook.

Jennings looked good. His passes still float, but not nearly as bad as last year. He was good at avoiding the rush.

I think Jennings showed why he is the starter. 9-21 doesn't look good, but he made plays when he needed to, didn't turn it over and had a couple of good passes that were dropped along with a couple of other good passes broken up by great defensive plays.
I think shitty play calling made him look worse in the first half than he really was.

I liked what I saw from Jennings last night. I thought he was in a few tough situations that he shouldn't have had to be in (we had far too many 3rd and longs).
Even some of his incompletions were good throws (post to Quinn). I'm excited to see what this offense does going forward.
