Make the water salty to taste (some use crab boil, I don't care for them that way, but if you do get water just like you do for crawfish), bring peanuts to a hard boil, back off the heat to just boiling, keep it going for a few hours, and soak for another 30-45 minutes till they are how you like them. A good rule of thumb is it takes a whole football game, start them at kickoff and some where in the third qtr turn the heat off and let them soak till it is over....give or take
