You can think there is no good reason for something and not want to outlaw it.

I think there is this phenomena among gun rights supports to sort of overcompensate for liberal rhetoric. That is to say, we see them go on about scary black cop killing baby murdering weapons of war and then we go "nah man they're totally safe guns don't kill people, people do" and we can lose our healthy respect of what these tools can do when mismanaged.

There is no reason for a 9 year old girl to fire an automatic weapon and parents should not expose her and the people around her to risk for no reason. Give her 5 more years or something, break her in on other weapons. I just can't figure out the reason they did this and "because she can" is not legitimate with kids... they "can" do a lot of things.

I didn't use, "just because she can" and I even specifically said that it in some instances and certainly can be irresponsible or negligent. I don't know all the details of this incident, family, etc. to blankety say "there is no good reason" for kids to fire an automatic weapon though is a worthless argument.

This sounds like a lot of straw man bullshite to me. Conservative gun rights activists are usually virulent about safety measures and have plenty respect for the danger of firearms.
