ETA: just heard on the news that the three occupants of the vehicle returned to the scene and will face multiple charges.

A train crashed into a vehicle Monday morning on North Ardenwood Drive just south of Choctaw Drive, Baton Rouge police said.
The vehicle’s occupants fled the scene following the crash, said Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a police spokesman, so it’s unknown whether any of its passengers were injured.
The crash happened about 10 a.m. in the 2500 block of North Ardenwood Drive. The train did not derail from the tracks because of the crash, Coppola said.
It was not immediately clear what the train was carrying. However, Coppola said it did not appear a hazardous material crew had been called to the site.
It also was not immediately clear whether the crash led to any road closures in the area.
Large metal poles with red warning lights sit on both sides of the railroad crossing. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the lights were flashing when the crash occurred.

"Why we reported on this when we don't know dick about what happened is not immediately clear."

It sounds like nothing was immediately clear to the author, so they just ran with fluff.

So they were drunk or high or in shock? Lol wtf
Even if you had a minor bench warrant or something I dont think they're gonna take you to jail if your car got hit by a fricking train
Eta:
Probably stolen

or illegal mexicans.
i got rear ended at red light by a mini-van. doors swung open and what had to be 10-15 mexicans went running in all directions. cops show up and its just me standing with two wrecked cars.

Holy shite I would be pissed! I'm guessing the van wasn't currently registered to anyone, or was it stolen?

last I heard they tracked the guy down it was registered to and he claimed he had loaned it out to someone and it had been stolen from them. no police report had been filed. he was uninsured.

Actually, unless there are extenuating circumstance (like getting rear ended into the tracks) you can get into quite a lot of trouble for hitting a train or being hit by one. The train is on a fixed path and is does not slow down very quickly. The flashing lights give warning well in advance. It is car drivers responsibility (having more freedom to get out of the way) to do everything necessary to make sure it is out of the trains path.

Guess I wasnt thinking of that since the way they worded the article made ut sound suspect whether the lights were on, but yes that definitely sounds accurate
Eta: went back and reread it, sounds like the news really has no idea, just that they hadnt confirmed whether the lights were flashing.

Im always surprised and somewhat confused that they dont have crossbars at a lot of intersections still ie airline & choctaw, its just flashers up top iirc

Went home. Saw tv lawyer ad. Weighed their options and decided a payout is worth a charge for stealing a car?
