the market rate would be much lower if the subsidized rates were taken out, if anyone needs compassion, its those who actually work for their money, subsidize those who don't work, then pay more for rent because it has been artificially inflated. There is plenty of charitable people in America, the government needs to GTFO

I've never understood why being a leech is virtuous, and subsidizing the poor is demonized.
