Sea World gave our family free passes through Make A Wish.

Therefore, my child's happiness trumps liberal "feelings".

So I guess having cichlids in an aquarium wrong? Oh wait they didn't have a free oscar movie. Zoos like Sea World do far more good than any harm as they showcase how remarkable b the animals are versus just taking some one else's word for it.

know Blackfish was told from one side but some of the facts stated seemed pretty straight on and the film painted Sea World in a terrible terrible light. If just 1/10th of the docu is on point then the place needs to have been shut down yesterday.
Problem is, not even 1/10th is on point, not even 1/20th.

Don't you think you are oversimplifying this topic and perhaps the truth might reside between the two extremes?

No, making a political statement is one thing, but flat lying to push an agenda is what SpidermanTUba does, and I find it despicable.

Good thing they aren't miserable, then.

What about not existing at all!

So you can watch them swim in a circle? So you can watch them jump out of water?
SO people can watch and learn while paying.. that enables Seaworld and zoos to research and learn.
Seaworld has not captured whales in 34 years.
Seaworld actually rescues and releases animals on a regular basis.

Per CNN:
quote:
SeaWorld notes that Blackfish "withholds from viewers key facts about SeaWorld," including that SeaWorld has rescued, rehabilitated, and returned to the wild hundreds of wild animals: Do any of those animals include orcas?
quote:
Yes, though killer whales do not beach with the same frequency as other species and when they do it is typically a last ditch effort at survival. Killer whales, like all stranded marine mammals, are generally gravely ill, injured, malnourished, dehydrated, very old or very young, and do not survive long on shore. Nonetheless, we've assisted whales many times, including killer whales. The largest whale to ever be rescued, rehabilitated and returned to the wild -- J.J. the orphaned gray whale calf -- was part of our rescue program.
quote:
You can read about our role in rescuing killer whales from Barnes Lake in Alaska here and our role in rescuing a killer whale named Springer here. We also assisted our colleagues at Dolfinarium in Holland with veterinary care and husbandry for an orphaned and hearing-impaired juvenile killer whale they rescued. SeaWorld was part of the team to help Luna, as well as a young killer whale stranded near Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. We also are regularly called upon to do pathology on beached whales that do not survive.
SO again, they know how to do this because of their research. They have the funds, in part, by bringing humans closer for a fee.

And to the people who keep saying these issues are not related. You are fooling yourselves.
The person who wrote the article in the OP owns stopthenra.com. He calls hunters murderers. He is heavily involved in both of these fronts.

What happened to your "Ferguson has come to Mississippi" thread last night?

There's plenty of research done on animals such as Orcas in the wild.
Orcas, unlike some land mammals aren't meant to spend their lives in a small enclosure. With the modern technology we have it's far better to observe Orcas in the wild since they don't exhibit nearly the same behaviors in captivity than they do in their natural habitat. Captivity is a poor way to "research" an Orca

More on that will come out. It has already made it to NY Fox.
But start a new thread if you want!
As to this thread, I have given you facts and links. It must really upset you that the guy who wrote the article in the OP own stopthenra and considers hunting murder. But I have a feeling you knew that and support both causes.

Shits just wrong on every level! ! Penning a naturally NOMADIC animal is just sick & twisted.

Based on?
Past information has lead to the hunting of them. In fact, the US Navy warned it's divers in 1973 in their diving manual "killer whales will attack human beings at every opportunity".
Seaworld has done an enormous amount of research and offers solutions that directly effect Whales and people. For example.. the population of the Southern Resident killer whale has not recovered and is likely due to declines in populations of their main prey, Chinook salmon. Now they want to build a place off the gulf that would supply the US population and set into the wild more prey for them.
Seaworld is already doing that in Cali with the sea bass.
As to watching them in the wild.. it forces them from their habitat. It reduces a killer whale’s echolocation abilities when hunting for prey.
Now you say:

Really? UCN/The World Conservation Union is a worldwide conservation organization. They issue a RED LIST. This list tells us what is endangered for risk of extinction. According to them, We have hardly any data from the wild. The killer whale is categorized as “data deficient.” There is inadequate information to make a direct, or indirect, assessment of the species risk of extinction based on its distribution and/or population status.

Well, your feeling sucks just like you suck at telling the truth.
I'm a gun owner and sportsman. I'm just not worried in the slightest about my guns or hunting. I'm just not irrationally paranoid like you.
It's possible to believe that enormous, highly intelligent mammals shouldn't be kept in tiny swimming pools, AND be a gun owning sportsman at the same time. I know that probably blows your tiny, simple brain. I don't need a movie to form my beliefs either, didn't see it, probably won't.

What the frick are you babbling about?
Where are copy and pasting this shite? of the premiere Orca research is being done right here in S.E. Alaska, and also in New Zealand.
Seaworld greatly exaggerates it's research
LINK
It's been suggested that captive habitat should be expanded to include an area large enough for Orcas to exhibit natural behaviors, such as a bay or inlet devoted to the study of these creatures. Seaworld can even do the research if they'll be honest about it.
Never mind, found where you copy and pasted your bullshite from
Seaworlds propaganda site
