Rooting My Cell Phone

I have an ATT-branded Samsung phone that I really like but I switched to another carrier a few months ago and now have all of this ATT bloatware on the phone that can't be deleted. I'm assuming the phone has to be rooted in order to get rid of these apps. Can anyone recommend a phone repair store that will do this for a reasonable price?

Which phone? It's probably pretty easy to do it yourself.

Samsung Exhilarate SGH-1577. I'd really prefer to pay someone who knows what they're doing than to grope through it myself.

Its an old phone. You won't really be happy with having someone else do it because you may need to flash a couple Roms before you are happy with the experience and you don't want to be paying someone else to manage your phone.
My advice? You can't brick an android. Just go here and spend 30 minutes reading through this thread and go for it.
You'll be glad you did.

Eta come here with questions. We can help you out.
Eta2 before you ask.. Try a cyan ROM first. Those are the best vanilla Roms.

You probably wanna install a custom recovery first and make a backup before you attempt to root (I'm assuming that he's attempting this for the first time).

Update: I paid a 13-year old neighborhood kid to root the two phones. It took all of ten minutes. Kid's got a rosy future in the tech world!

Or that should have showed you how easy it was for you to do it yourself.
