I'd probably advise you get an MRI. If you are frequently active (sports, outdoors, etc) you run the risk of turning a smaller injury into a bigger one. Friend of mine had an Achilles injury and went a week without an MRI. Minor improvement but he was still concerned with his weakness so he got the MRI. Pretty significant tear which required a boot for 6 weeks.

I would wait and see how you do and possibly do some PT. Unless you are a throwing athlete you probably don't need a ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction. Maximize nonoperative treatment.
