Vegas confusing the assault rifle/assault weapon debate with the term automatic weapon debate is exactly the problem

because politicians (see numerous examples) are just as ignorant and they actually have the power to impose laws and restrictions. it's not even that difficult of a subject to understand if you took 15-20 minutes to educate yourself
