I'm not going to link these kids facebook's. It isn't an uninformed opinion if I am witnessing it.

None of these kids that are 16-25 making "hilarious" ice bucket videos are donating a cent. In fact, they are choosing to do something meaningless over donating a legitimate amount to a good cause.

So what you're actually saying is you're sticking your head in the sand and will just stick with your uninformed opinion? Cool.

You know what pisses me off? People who just want to whine and criticize this "challenge". If you don't like it fine, don't participate. I hope your family isn't touched by a tragedy that will need to rely on support from a service that is largely dependent on donations because then I know you're going to feel real awkward at that point.

I will tentatively agree with your point that probably most of the kids who are making the funny videos may not be making an actual donation. That may seem bad at first thought but then think a little more. If these videos weren't flooding the web now, would the basic idea behind them have gotten so popular? Would the celebrities and money people have gotten involved? So is there effort really meaningless?

Think of it like a singer or band performing a benefit concert. Maybe they're not making a direct donation, but they are attracting the fans who pay for the tickets that fund the benefit.
