Of course not, because it wasn't necessary. Do you have any idea how many Black folks, many of them public figures, were born during Jim Crow, and are the product of mixed race marriages? If mixed raced couples had been subject to this kind of hatred in U.S., folks like Obama wouldn't be alive to today becasue their mothers wouldn't have lived long enough to conceive them.

Of course you know trackfan that the Muslim communities within Israel itself are quite content with the laws barring Jewish-Muslim interfaith marriages because by extension, it gives them control over marriage, divorce and family law in their own communities. If everything was opened up and religious leaders didn't have control over marriage law in Israel, then those Muslim (and Druze and Arab Christian) leaders would have to relinquish control. That's in part what's perpetuating that issue.
