What was their reasoning for teaching you that all cops are scum?

Because enough of them are complete scum that your chances of encountering one (or many) during your young adult life is almost guaranteed. I have personally come across several (kudos to the BRPD for employing and defending them). I have had more positive experiences with police than negative, but those scummy cops make the world a more dangerous place for everyone.

quote:

I know a lot of shitty doctors and lawyers but it doesn't mean that all of them are scum bags.

The difference lies in percentages and exposure. There's a good chance I could go my entire life without ever coming in contact with a shite head doctor. I can go many years at a time without having to deal with a vindictive, corrupt lawyer. I probably run into a TPOS cop at the very least once every year and a half. It only takes one TPOS cop to completely ruin your life. A bad cop can beat you, confiscate your stuff, get you kicked out of school, steal your car, murder your pet, put you in jail for no reason, fine you, evict you from your home, ect. A bad cop can ruin your home, your career, your friendships, your relationships, your life...ON A WHIM AND THE GOVERNMENT WILL DEFEND HIM TO THE DEATH! After freezing your assets, you won't even be able to afford that scummy lawyer while you are forced to confess to a crime you didn't commit in order to avoid major prison time, losing your right to vote, losing your right to own a firearm, your job, your property, and essentially losing years of your life wasted in prison.

So yes, my father and I had the conversation because it is possibly the most important conversation a parent can have with their teenager. Failure to teach those lessons can be DEADLY!.

Why do you come in contact with the police every year and a half? Is it possible that they're only thugs in your mind because you got caught doing something you shouldn't have?
