I'm no strongman, but my best friend is one of the leading tacklers on a top 25 college team in the country. While genetics plays a role, he always swore by creatine, whey protein, and very simply, a proper diet. He spent unreal amounts of time researching nutrition and dieting to get the results he wanted. It got to the point where it was almost crazy, but has worked out well for him. I advise your son to spend the time researching and learning about nutrition and muscle growth. There is no magic pill that will make things change over night.

Muscle or monster milk. Peanut butter. Chicken and tuna. Drink water and milk and lots of fruit and veggies. Whey protein works. I went from 150 to 180 over the summer going to my junior year with muscle mile and peanut butter.
