Yea, the chief was a like a deer in headlights. The tox screen, ballistics and autopsy will be vetted by multiple agencies though so there is going to be an answer one way or another in my opinion. Thats two completely different stories that should be easily corroborated one way or another to prove one side is lying.

If the cop turns out innocent I expect the looters to return the stolen merchandise and pay for damages
