I bought Onkyo 3008 new ($2,099 MSRP) and HDMI board failed right after 2 years. I'm never buying Onkyo receiver again.
New HDMI board will fail again after 2 years. It has the BGA chips on it just like Xbox 360 and PS3.
"reflow" method in the oven will last about 2 months. permanent solution is "reball" method but I can't find anybody that could do it.

just FYI, the problems started *AFTER* the 606 and continued into late 2012/early 2013.
go google it. the issue has been addressed for well over a year now..people are still finding the issue with the 607-616 models (and higher end in tha time frame) and bringing it up.
do y'all bashing on onkyo really think they are blissfully unaware and continuing to build new models with the defect?
