I got there when they opened and waited 2 hours. It's insane. There was a guy next to me who was 280th in line. I would have just left and took my chances with an expired license

That's why you get there before they open.

Another helpful hint is to avoid times that people can usually get away from work. This mainly includes lunch hours. If you can get there at like 9:30 or 2:30, you'll wait less.

This has been going back and forth for a long time. I went in today expecting to pay $670, I had to pay $1125.

All because I didn't turn in two plates on some cars I sold back in 2011, and because I missed a payment of $160 after I paid off an out of state ticket that was supposed to be $224, but ballooned to $644 because the counties in Texas are allowed to sell their fines off to bill collectors who then DOUBLE the fines and then add fees.
I got tired of trying to fight it and just paid what they wanted.

In Texas, and it put a hold (suspended) my license here.

From now on out, every single ticket, every single time I'm just getting a lawyer. I'm never doing this stuff again.

But, now I'm all good to go on my 1,400 mile drive Sunday.
