PP7 was one of the best DB at LSU. Jerry Stoval wast a beast as well. How about Laron Landry? Oh & Mathieu!

Laron played Safety and was not the athlete that Stovall or PP was. Also you have to consider Tommy Casanova.

I respect what you are saying but far as covering a WR, he is better.. Go back and watch the film..

Bad rap for Julio? He got a td to beat us while pp7 was cramping on the sideline and then got a TD against him when they were down by two scores one year. PP7 kept Julio in check the majority of the time besides one little 5 yard slant TD

Ehh, not sure id say held him in check. Julio averaged over 100 ypg against lsu in his career. They had some great battles. Peterson won some and Julio won some. He beat Peterson on the 20 yard out route in overtime in 2008 that set up the game winning QB sneak.

Peterson is probably the best athlete that has ever played corner in the SEC, and his years at lsu coincided with some great WR talent. Personally, I thought Claiborne was a better college corner. That could be a product of not facing the talent that Peterson did though.

Peterson, Claiborne, Mathieu and Brooks were the best corners collectively at LSU ever. Will be very hard to top, although we have the kids that can do it here now!

More like nickels or safeties. Neither guy is/was a true corner. Also, Corey Webster says hi.

So as a freshman

And how much of that was against PP7? He was absolutely held in check against pp7 in 2009. Shut down

I think Chevis Jackson is a more reasonable comparison.

The only player to show up PP7 while at LSU was Cam Newton. Peterson looked like he was waterskiing behind cam when he tried to tackle him.

Julio's stats are inflated because of the mercy TD in 2010 and the long TD given up by Brandon Taylor in 2009.

Julio was a freshman too. They only played 3 years, we can't exclude 1/3 of that for the sake of an agenda.

Jones vs Peterson 2010

As I said, it's pretty silly to say either one dominated the other in college. Jones won reps and Peterson won reps.

The what? That score made it a field goal game with 5 1/2 minutes left

I'm not, was just point out how you had to go back to his freshman year to find a meaningful play. PP7 had perfect coverage on the play, but it was a great throw. PP7 would have picked it off if he would have had his head around.

I think that is the only pass over 20 yards that Jones had on PP7

There was 3:30 left. LSU plays soft defense with a 2 score lead in that situation. It is infuriating, but almost every team we've played against has put up a TD there. Lots of zone coverage.

Also, keeping in check =/ shutting down. Impossible to shut down a guy like Julio for 3 years. 1 completion over 20 yards = keeping him in check

3:23 left. Nice try.

The momentum was totally in LSU's favor.

I was in tiger stadium bud. You could feel uneasiness set in after that touchdown. A collective "here we go" was the feeling in TS.

No problem with that. You had a problem with someone saying the PP7 held him in check. He absolutely did.

Julio sure did disappear for a few quarters

As was I. Once they were in the redzone I said to myself "they dont have enough time". Our defense was playing absolutely lights out.

We had a 3rd and 13 with over 2 minutes to go. They had enough time.

Even on the TD pass, we were playing 10 yards off the LOS. That is the Chavis weakness though

Peterson won the war with Julio. "Dominated" would be a strong word; their sophomore year Peterson dominated. Their last year it was an epic battle. Julio, and the QB, played awesome. They beat Peterson on some remarkable throws and catches. But Bama went to Julio against Peterson several times on third down and short, and Peterson shut most of those down, ending drives.

I don't get the hoopla for Mike Evans. Call me the minority but I think he has a very average NFL career.
