PFF: Saints have NFL’s top offense

PFF came up with a formula based on the grades of every offensive player to rank all 32 offenses in the NFL. The Saints ended up at #1. You can only see the full rankings if you are an insider on ESPN, but this is the excerpt about the Saints.
If you are an "insider" then the link is HERE
The rest of the top 5, in order, include Denver, Green Bay, Philadelphia, and New England. The Bottom 2 teams are the Jaguars coming in at #32 and the Jets coming in at #31.
The Saints' position ranks are:
QB: 3rd in league.
RBs: 13th in league.
Recievers: 2nd in the league.
OL: 10th in league.

1. New Orleans Saints
With our third-ranked quarterback situation, and plenty of talented targets for Drew Brees to throw to, it's easy to see why the Saints are our highest-ranked offense heading into the 2014 season. There's not much Brees struggles with as a passer, and he finished last year with the most touchdown passes (15) and second most yards (1,128) in the league on passes thrown 20 yards or farther downfield.
Of course it helps to have the weapons around him, with Jimmy Graham the standout among the tight ends and receivers. Graham's 2.26 yards per route run average was the most of any tight end with enough qualifying snaps last year, and figures to be just as dangerous in 2014.

WR: DEN > GB > NO > PHI > NE
TE: NO > NE > DEN > PHI > GB
TE b/w NO and NE are a wash
WR b/w NO and GB are a wash
philly definitely downgraded without Djax

I found it interesting that they had our reciever situation ranked as #2 in the league. Can't say that I agree.
I like the Saints receivers a lot, but #2 isn't where I'd have them either. Unproven, with potential, but not there yet.

If Cooks turns out as good as we think, then there are 4 legit targets. So I can see justification for the #2 ranking.
Graham, Colston, Stills and Cooks will likely be the best set of targets Brees has ever had.

Yeah I wasn't grouping Graham as a reciever in my head at first but since their is no TE ranking I dont think the ranking is too far off.

WR should be lower, and RB should be higher.

If we're talking purely WR from everyone (not just the top 5 offenses), I think Chicago is #2 to Denver.
Not sure if anyone has even 3 receivers better than them outside of Denver.

Shell, declining arm strength, blah blah

The only potential starter at WR who is unproven is Cooks. I'd say Stills absolutely proved he can play in this league.

...can't throw the deep ball anymore, always behind receivers.

I think this will be underrated. Armstead is going to be a dominating force.
This might be the best power running attack the Saints have had.

2nd in WRs? Based on what? Last year our WRs sucked. I think Cook is going to be great and so is Stills but 2nd? Colston declined last year and it showed.
*edit* Oh, they included Graham.

We certainly lucked out there. I'd hate to be here with Brown doing his best matador impression.

Colston declined last year and it showed.
Anyone thinking Colston isn't a legit number one is wrong.
Add in Cooks being fully legit and Stills having another year, that is a GREAT top 3 to have. Then Graham, Watson, and Hill as receiving threats, along with PT. Brees has a lot to work with.

ya, Colston is not declining rapidly like many suggest...he deals with a lot of injuries cause of his style of play.
...31 is not very old for a non - one dimensional speed WR...hell, Roddy White just got an extension at 33

They came out with the defense ranks today.
My problem is that basically they just grade what happened last year, and say hey based on last year, here are the current ranks. There is no projection based on improvements: free agents added and draft picks, coaching changes, etc.

ESPN is sucking all on that Denver dick. Both offense and defense. You'd swear they didn't get blown out in the Super Bowl last year
