you need to get a plumbers torch and work the moisture out of it.
I have several pieces that have been up in the attic that I bought for bamboo bly rods. Still needs to be heat treated. Basically keep the torch moving. The bamboo will start to steam and bubble on the ends. When it stops you're done.
