I had always hung the bamboo up in trees till they dried out over the winter. Best time to cut is after the first freeze. That was the way all old times did it. Tie it on the tip, throw the string over a high tree limb, tie off. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

That was interesting Shexter, Thanks. Tempering a 18 footer is going to take some time. I think I may use a crawfish burner or maybe a heat gun. I wonder how hot it needs to be......
