So are we talking about just USMNT soccer? Are we talking about the sport as whole in the country? The MLS?
Im not sure what you are asking.
The first WC I watched was the 86 Mexico cup on spanish only feeds satellite while spending the summer at my cousins. Since then I think the single biggest boost to US soccer was the 94 WC hosted here in the US followed by Lamar Hunt's commitment to building a viable domestic league afterwards. Not even going to go into the many great college coaches through the years that helped grow the sport at a grass roots level.
