I was at Bengals & Bandits today and asked the owner when the new logo was going to be released.

He stated that it would probably take about a year but that the logo we have all seen is not what was supposed to be released; it was only a cleaned up version of the logo off the helmet and was too close to the original for them to market it properly.

However, since it was released through other means, they decided not to release the finalized logo and are trying to figure out a way to release it properly.

He estimated it would take a year for the logo we've seen be released on merchandise. He also said that the Bengals & Bandits logo was officially licensed by LSU.

Valuable information. I shall compartmentalize it, and utilize it when necessary.

Interesting, I hope what they will release will be more clean (like the one in my sig). Although they cleaned the tiger head up, it still doesn't look great. On the other hand, they already started implementing it in the basketball program, how would they change that? Now I'm just confused..

Too each their own. I liked the old logo but I see the justification behind needing to clean it up. I think the new one is a happy medium. That looks like something from Madden create a team.

This makes no sense at all. LSU released that 'cleaned version' and put it on the bball court. I wouldn't trust that source.

I'm not sure how much of that makes sense. I can understand the year delay, licensing and production and all that, but the different version of the new logo? If the old one (1972 edition) embroidered and printed fine, it's not like this new one would have production issues.

It doesn't seem like it would make sense to release ANOTHER that is even more altered.

Who knows.

Can someone explain to me the problem with the '72 tiger head and why that couldn't be licensed?

The more I read this thread the more I don't get the whole LSU identity thing.

The '72 tiger head is awesome, the licensee tiger head is meh, new tiger head is great.

So are y'all really going to only have the script LSU, eye of the tiger and the new tiger head moving forward?
