Caprese salad is very overdone. It's so overdone, many Italian restaurants are not offering it on the menu.
The trendy alternative is an arugula salad with grape tomatoes, black olives and burrata cheese. The burrata melts easily when tossed and makes a coating similar to buttermilk dressing. Very tasty.

I don't believe I'll ever tire of Caprese salad. I love it.
