It's genetics

If this has never been an issue for you or your family, you probably won't be interested. I am.

quote:
"In the youngest data set, they were able to identify with 96 percent accuracy whether or not a participant had attempted suicide, based on blood test results."

The SKA2 gene works to inhibit negative thoughts and control impulsive actions. When there isn't enough of it, or it is altered, the brain releases abnormal levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.

Previous studies have shown that people who try to kill themselves, or who commit suicide, have an abnormal cortisol release.

Let me guess. There's no cure, but an expensive medication you can live your whole life on?

Instead of guessing, why don't you just post your scientific research that disproves theirs.

Tldr just read the last two sentences.

quote:

You have misunderstood.

Let me guess

By this statement I assumed you didn't have any facts to back up your argument. I apologize of I misunderstood.

quote:

I didn't say I don't believe in the existence of the gene or that the cortisol levels in the blood don't cause more stress. I was simply commenting that, more than likely, there won't be a cure, because there almost never is. I'm saying big pharma will use this as an opportunity to put people on expensive medication for the entirety of their lives. When in fact , a balanced diet and exercise would likely (I'm assuming this is also a guess.) control the issue.

Live your whole life on.

You wouldn't hate the companies that produce insulin. Until they have a cure, they are at least getting people an option.

Hopefully someone smarter than me can comment on what I'm saying, because I'm really ignorant on the subject of the science and medication behind it. And I'm sure it shows. If diet and exercise is an alternative, then I would be in favor of doctors working with patients in this direction the same way they would with heart disease. It just rubed me the wrong way to see people rolling their eyes in a thread that people are posting in who are struggling with the issue. You can throw away everything I posted before that last sentence.
