I don't think they're desperate enough for an Avengers/guardians movie. Once they look RDJ and maybe someone else and start worrying about ticket sales they'll join them together. That's phase 4 probably. But definitely not this soon.
ETA and if you're talking about GotG losing to Thanos in their own movie....then put down the pipe

He doesn't have to kill them, but maybe a temporary set back for the Guardians but still leaving hope for the future.
