Disagree, and so does the rest of the NFL.

Irrelevant is a bad word choice, I apologize. I mean that sack count is a team effort. Often times a sack is caused by cumulative efforts, such as coverage sacks and control of the game. For example, if we lock down the run and control the clock, they will likely be playing from behind. This creates more passing situations, meaning more sack opportunities. Just where I am coming from on it.

You take away pass rush ability and you give run stopping ability (which Galette wasn't near as bad as you are making him out to be), and obviously, the pass rush goes down.

Comparing a true Defensive End (Hicks) with Galette; Galette had 28 tackles on the year that were not sacks, while Hicks had 53.5. I think what you gain with a more balanced LB is more game control, which opens up more opportunities. Just my view on it.

ETA: and yes I know Hicks' tackle count has a lot to do with his positioning, he was playing as a second DT a lot of the time.

He is not a true DE, IMO. He is a 3-4 DE. He would be a 3-tech in a true 4-3.

Where does your pass rush come from? In a 3-4, you need that outside guy too.
