Ehh, Downtown Houston is a complete ghost town, brah during the weekend. I'd approach with caution.

Have you been there on a weekend night? Lately there's been plenty of people. Main Street from about Capitol to Preston has almost 2 dozen restaurants and bars. If you're wondering around Bell St and Fannin sure, there isn't anything there. North part of Main has plenty going on. Also there's a handful of places within a couple of blocks of House Blues on the south end of downtown.
