Outboard Issues

I'm having some issues with my outboard (2007 Yamaha 150 VMax). It starts and idles really good but when I plan it out and get up to around 3000 RPM's it chokes down and runs like I'm pulling 600 lb skier. It will surge somewhat at times and the RPM's will get up to around 4000 but it chokes back down.
Anyone know where I should start??

or, you could take it down the street to bryans marine, and "pay the man".

I started a similar thread a few weeks back. Try the search function using "seafoam". There was some good info within.
Btw I'm still having the same problem

Good suggestions in this thread so far... But that surge issue could also be a seal in the lower unit is letting water in places it doesn't belong.
If your plugs don't fix the problem, check for water in the lower unit.

Thanks, Change up! I just replaced the lower unit a few weeks ago so I will difficultly look into that. That wouldn't be cool

Don't know if this had been mentioned but have you checked into the ignition coils being bad? I have a mercury pro xs that was running slow/bogged down. Come to find out it was an ingniton coil problem.
