Why not just live in Metairie and save a ton of money?

Because then you have to deal with Metairie traffic.

Lakeview is similar to Metairie but you don't have to deal with that. You can get anywhere pretty fast.

I'd rather pay way more to live in Lakeview over Metairie.

Lived in Lakeview for years, but we just bought a house in Vista Park and really like it.

I've lived in Lakeview for a couple years now. I'm within walking distance of Harrison and pretty much everything I'd ever need. Lots of police presence too... Almost too much because they've practically followed me home more than a few times. Streets are inexcusably bad... Some spots almost not navigable. Hence why I wouldn't really want to live in the interior sections of the neighborhood. The public school, Hynes, is really good but limited spots available. Overall, I'm happy with it. Maybe I'll move on up to Lake Vista one day, but that's about as far as I'd go. Good luck!

There is no traffic getting from Old Metairie to anywhere in NOLA. We don't pay the high property tax or deal with te terrible roads. This is the place to raise a family.
