Thinking about going next year. Anybody been before? Looks like you have become a member first then they email you when it's time to buy.
Is it first come first serve?
Does it sell out pretty quickly?
Paging Murray: Want to go?

That's funny. My co-worker just described that scene to me.

if you mean the san diego one, yeah its pretty hard to get tickets now.
you pretty much have to know the time and date they go on sale and try to get them immediately. imagine a very popular concert.

The website says once you're a member you get an email with 48-24 hour advanced notice.
Can you even buy them on the secondary market because of the badge ID's?

I've been able to purchase them before. My wife and I both logged on the second that they were available and between the two of us we were able to get four sets of tickets.
Unless they've changed it, you don't have to be on their e-mail list.
They sell out within minutes. And they've changed it so that you can no longer purchase the four or three day passes all at once. You have to purchase each day, which makes it more difficult to purchase for the entire weekend.
If you know anyone that is going to have a booth there, they might possibly have passes that they can get you.
If you do go, you'll have the time of your life. Best vacation ever.

I went in '06 and '08 when it was just getting to be ridiculously hollywood. I dont think you can "scalp." but im not sure. the ID badge doesnt have a picture. you could probably find someone selling if you looked online.
just be forewarned: it has gotten extremely big. you will wait over an hour if you want to get into a panel. sometimes 2. which means you can only make a select few a day. the crowds can be pretty awful as well. it needs a bigger venue desperately.

The hotels are set up in a similar fashion. They have a date when you can log on and request hotels nearby. Those go almost as quickly as the tickets to the Con.

So to buy 3 people 3 day passes you have to submit 9 times?

SDCC Badge FAQ
ETA: You probably have a better chance of getting an Alabama v LSU ticket than getting a SDCC Badge and the game ticket is going for 11k on average last I checked.

It depends on the panel that you want to see. Some fill up hours in advance, some have very small lines. We got up early and camped out for Hall H and just stayed in there throughout Saturday and saw all of the best movie panels.
One afternoon they were begging people to come in and fill the hall and it turned out we were seeing the panel for Super with James Gunn, Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, and Nathan Fillion. We got into see Will Ferrell do an hour on stage with no wait at all.
And very few lines to talk to the comic book creators. The big lines were to see the movie and TV stars.

yeah, comic creators youll be fine with. if you want to see ANY tv show or most movies, its massive lines.

That's an awesome way to prevent scalping though.
I'll give it a shot. Have two computers for tickets and one for hotels. See what happens.

Lol at 2 hours. Wife and I waited ft damn near 4 to get into the True Blood panel after season 1. All good advice in this thread though. We've been saying we should go back ever since we went.
