Texas ISDs have nothing to do with incorporation of cities. Texas ISDs have to share their tax revenue with poorer districts. Texas ISDs that do well have good demographics. Same could be said for any school system outside of West Virginia.

Every school district in Texas has the name "Independent School District" in its official name. Even the districts that are countywide like Aransas County Independent School District. It is just a name and means nothing to distinguish itself from any other kind of school district in Texas. Some ISD's are huge and some are small.

My wife and I have decided to sign the petiton. Will do that this week. We are both career public school educators who are now retired.

Exactly and why I'd take the ISD and stay unincorporated.

How does this work?
