I'm not an apple fan and don't own a slingbox, but I use my Windows Media Center at home with a program called Remote Potato and an app called Remote Media Center to stream live and recorded TV to my camper on weekends while camping with a good HSPA+ or LTE connection on my phone. (Connection shared via mobile hotspot from my phone.)
It has worked out well for me and I've actually watched the last two LSU bowl games and the Georgia game last year with this setup.
