Seriously, AD...I was under the assumption that a 'tax credit' is an IRS deduction off of taxes that are paid in/owed. Would I be wrong?
From my experience in life - through recessions and expansive bubbles...there are individuals in all these scenarios who will not work because they find it burdensome, and many who couldn't hold a job even if they wanted to, because of a lack of disciple/will power. And many others who work low paying jobs that can not monetarily compete with subsidized allotments; I.e., not working pays more.
I know it goes against a lot of our ingrained virtues...and many times the old adage "an idle mind is the devils workshop" applies...but it may well be that we come out cheaper subsidizing/guaranteeing the basics (food/shelter), but with QUALIFIERS that those who access them...commit to improving their civic responsibilities. Just like those of us who PAY THEIR subsidies, do.

Technically, you would not be wrong. The poors will still get welfare and the government wouldn't have to pay for it. Tons of people and businesses buy tax credits to reduce their tax burden.
Why wouldn't you support this? Aren't tax credits viewed as a good thing?

Tax credits are not subsidies. There would be no more subsidies!
