Where did I ever say solely? Reagan was the one who actually dared to believe that the USSR could be defeated. He stood on the shoulders of Truman and others who sought to contain them.

But he was the one who threw away the theory of MAD, and decided they could be beaten. Of course none of this happened in a vacuum. The Pope, Solidarity, Margaret Thatcher, Solzhenitsyn, the Refuseniks, and many others contributed. A mistake the Soviets made was the attempted assassination of the Pope. That really damaged them.
