Yes.

If you only pour the product against a house it will not soak properly into the soil. Therefore, you will not have an adequate amount of product in certain areas, therefore limiting the amount of coverage/protection. Short answer, no because it won't work as good. It doesn't have to be a perfect 4" x 6" trench around your house. Just take a shovel and chop up the soil a few inches deep and you should be fine.

And with quote number two, they say it never needs treatment again but what the might be mentioning is that they won't be charging you for another treatment ever again. However, they are charging you another $1170 for the next 9 renewals after the initial treatment, which more than makes up for them not charging. So it breaks down to them charging an extra $1300 every 10 years (the life of Termidor) for them to "not treat again". That would be my thought process at least.
