Israel can't remove Hamas by aerial bombing. It's a large, decentralized organization. All they can do is rack up bodies.
If Israel actually tried to root out Hamas entirely, as opposed to a limited action like Cast Lead, it would be a long, costly, bloody war, and at the end of it, the vacuum wouldn't be filled with cuddly moderates, because there wouldn't be any left in Gaza after such a conflict. It would be filled by Islamic Jihad or the PFLP.
Of course, they could always do what that crazy MK from HBHY suggested and literally evict all 1.8 million citizens of Gaza into the Sinai. The Kingdom of Israel consigning an unwanted minority to wander the desert does have a certain historical irony to it. Of course, al-Sisi is having a hard enough time with his economy as it is, and I doubt Israel wants to endanger relations with their one friendly-ish Arab neighbor so soon after the Muslim Brotherhood split town by dumping a bunch of refugees on them.
