Absolutely, a Repub will take LA. Times were different, but here are LA's election results in the presidential elections since 1992:

1992: Clinton 46 - Bush 41

1996: Clinton 52 - Dole 40

2000: Bush 53 - Gore 45

2004: Bush 57 - Kerry 42

2008: McCain 59 - Obama 40

2012: Romney 58 - Obama 41

A solid, conservative Dem would have a fighting chance in LA, but unfortunately the national party currently caters a little too left for LA's taste.

I think LA goes R. Though the latest polls show Hillary running neck and neck with Rs in LA. I think as usual those states that went red last time will do so, those that went blue will do so. They'll be about 4 battleground states that will decide the election.
