When I was a partner in a business we had a lot of request for donations, sponsorships, and advertising. We just couldn't give everyone money.
This is what passed all 4 decision makers test.
1. What can your team do for us?
Example small town we were in that supports high school football team
No brainier to get a board on the field.
Shows our commitment to the town
Something that wouldn't fly.
Adult baseball team with 15 people that are single living in apartments.
They don't buy mowers or flowers from our nursery.
Now if I owned a bar/tavern catering to adults I would be possibly be interested.
What would fly for us.
I actually had a church baseball team send me something similar to what I wrote below and I cut them a check for $750 in 1 hour.
"Adult baseball team with 15 people or even 10 people with a strong family ties to the community. Strong support and attendance of friends and family that live in the community."
This is worth sponsoring due to this is the market we want coming in our doors and would spend money with us. Small businesses only have so many dollars and get asked for donations a lot.
