Our league allows TE's to be in the flex spot, so I can draft another TE in round 5 or so, and essentially treat Graham like a WR
Flexploit!

Graham + Gronk = Championship

no other TE can produce what these two will
in a 12 man 1st/3rd, in a 10 man 1st/4th
quote:

1 1.09 Jimmy Graham TE NO
2 3.04 Julius Thomas TE DEN
3 3.08 Rob Gronkowski TE NE

Julius is not a focal point of the offense like JG and RG are...he will never put up their numbers

the difference between the next 7 is at best 2 points/week (historically speaking, end of season TE totals)...but all 70-100 points/season under what JG or RG produce...Tight-end mediocrity is DEEP
quote:

4 5.08 Vernon Davis TE SF - same old acceptable mediocrity
5 5.10 Jordan Cameron TE CLE - will be relied upon, but system change and qb change
6 6.12 Jason Witten TE DAL - consistent medium
7 7.04 Jordan Reed TE WAS - will be used, but not focused on
8 7.12 Greg Olsen TE CAR - will produce just based on opportunity
9 8.09 Dennis Pitta TE BAL - healthy with Kubiak(owen daniels), Balt will use him
10 9.04 Kyle Rudolph TE MIN - Norv turner uses the TE (JCameron)

then you have the next group, that could easily all be in the top 3-10

quote:

11 10.04 Zach Ertz TE PHI - not seeing it, but they say they will use 2 TE sets, put up 36-469-4td as a rook
12 11.03 Eric Ebron TE DET - could be, but they paid Pet so can't see them benching him, but he could break out
13 11.09 Ladarius Green TE SD - huge upside if they give him the TE1 position
14 12.08 Martellus Bennett TE CHI - meh, no like, but the middle should be wide open
15 13.02 Charles Clay TE MIA - I like him, proved he can be the guy..great steal late
16 13.10 Antonio Gates TE SD - happy trails
17 13.11 Heath Miller TE PIT - was 4th best TE in 2012, injured pretty much all 2013, he's cheap

I disagree with this. He's actually the TE I'll probably target if I don't pick in a spot where it would be smart to take JG in round 1. He's a pass catching TE, and when he finally supplanted Davis as their starter last year he had some really nice games. I know they added D-Jax, but with RGIII playing in Gruden's offense I can definitely see Reed having a huge year. I'm buying.

I agree getting a good TE can be huge, but I dont buy the getting two tight ends.
I think its over paying. Flex spot should get the player that can provide the most points no matter the position with slight consideration for depth at your non-flex (of course there is a slight value in devaluing another team of getting a TE but I dont value that as highly as providing depth to rb's or wr or te if injury concern.)
