It's an alternative to many ways you obtain beer these days. If you want beer at your house fresh from the tap of a local brewery, chances are you have it in a growler. Unfortunately, growlers tend to go flat relatively quickly. SYNEK is more of an alternative to growlers in this sense. I assume it's a luxury item for those that prefer their beer straight from the tap instead of the store.

Anyway, they have been very successful on Kickstarter. Originally looked for $250K goal in 21 days and reached it in three days. Less than 10 days later and the team has over 1,400 backers and $423,000+ funded.
