as big as Laron is, Jacobs was like 270 running full speed against a stationary landry. landry basically had no chance there

you still think that?
he had all the space and time to decide how to tackle him. He went at him to hit and looks like at the last minute said "this isn't a good idea" and then got plowed.

He hit him at the waste and just got trucked. Jacobs actually went down because of the hit too.

He was a pretty impossible guy to tackle back then with that much speed behind him at 270

all the time in the world? jacobs broke past the first group of tacklers at full speed, and landry shifted over from across the field to save Jacobs from likely scoring a TD. When you have a 270 pound running back running a full head of steam and very fast for someone that big, you're going to get trucked when you're outweighed by 50 pounds and try to tackle him straight on. Regardless, as the above post says, Jacobs went down on the play and Landry prevented a huge gain by having the balls to try to square up a guy that had made a habit of trucking guys weekly at that point in his career. I don't think anyone should call Landry weak or whatever for getting trucked in that situation, as that would be a high probability for anyone with that much of a size disadvantage.
