Again, what does hunting on federal lands have to do with Sandy Hook Elementary School?

I'm confused as to why personally responsible independent conservatives would even the Nanny State to supply them land to hunt on. Get a job - and buy your own land, or rent it from someone else.

Because hunters actually pay for the land through taxes on guns, ammunition, and licensing fees.

From the FWS website:

Proceeds from the Federal Duck Stamp, a required purchase for migratory waterfowl hunters, have purchased more than five million acres of habitat for the refuge system (2005 statistics only); lands that support waterfowl and many other wildlife species, and are usually open to hunting.

If you can't understand the English words printed in the link you yourself posted I cannot help you.

That doesn't convey personal ownership of the land. And if they don't think they get enough land to hunt on in return for the fees - they are free to not pay them and go to the private market. Its called "personal responsibility". Maybe you've heard of it.

BTW - the right wing doesn't think you should have to pay fees to use land the government manages, so it doesn't matter (see Cliven Bundy)
