I was born in '79. I wasn't old enough to remember the hatred. Either that or I was never taught it. I'm very thankful for that.
My best friend in high school was a black guy. We were really best friends. My parents loved him. When I got in a wreck and almost died in 97 after we graduated, he and his wife would come stay at the hospital with me so my parents could go home and shower. We still keep in contact. I send his kids birthday gifts every year. He has an amazing wife and an amazing family. I just can't imagine living during these times.
