Maybe so, but I recall an interview where Patrick Stewart said he was, initially, going to skip it because he understood they were making fun of Star Trek. Frakes called him and said, "You must not miss this film." Stewart said he watched in a packed cinema, with howls of laughter, the loudest coming from him. His favorite part, in particular, was that the day was saved by fans who understood the actual science upon which the show was based.
Real Star Trek (pre-2009) will always be on top because of things like this.
