Without taking a side on the science, the AGW-as-state-control narrative has always struck me as needlessly complex. The state has numerous ways to increase it's power, ways that are tried and true and don't depend on the populace exhibiting an as-yet untested willingness to mitigate a far-off ecological crisis. War hawking, of course. Ginning up economic crises. Exploiting ethnic tensions. All of these can and have been used in the past to attain near-total control by governments in history. And I don't buy for a moment we're somehow "too sophisticated" for those methods such that we need a couple decades of scientists making fancy charts. If anything giving your populace that kind of long consideration period is counterproductive.

Wait, you can't comprehend the government looks to all avenues to increase it's power? I guess you missed the governments solution to combat "global warming" was to issue taxes.
